"When we were brainstorming for a name, we came up with all sorts of ideas," says Marco Mazzaferro, who owns Mazz Salon with his brother, Frank. "It had to be catchy and something that people would warm to. In the end, we decided a play on our family name would work."
The name suits the slick and warm Yonge Street operation and it turned out Marco and Frank got lucky in more ways than one — it happens that ‘Mazz' means hair in Armenian. "We had no idea, but one of our clients told us," laughs Marco.
The salon offers a full range of hair services delivered with a smile, years of experience and, if you’re lucky, a glass of wine. "It can be intimidating paying a visit to a hair salon," says Marco. "We make our customers comfortable right way with a coffee or a drop of red or white," he says. "There's sometimes even a fruit platter going." It all makes the experience of a cut, colour, extensions, conditioning or smoothing treatment a bit more fun.
