"We're really just two home brewers who wanted to take it to the next level," says Phil Vandenborre, co-owner of Black Kettle Brewing with his friend Bryan Lockhart. "We were both avid home beer brewers and then we bought a small half-barrel system and worked on that for about four years, but always with the intention of opening up a microbrewery."
In 2013, the two friends took the plunge and started planning and constructing what would become Black Kettle Brewing.
"We looked around Vancouver and North Vancouver and happened to go by this location as it was being built. The location was good, the size was right and our landlords are great," says Phil, "It all just came together."
