When Vincent and Amelie Nguyen’s father Hoang Nguyen passed away in 2010, the siblings had to decide the fate of their parents’ popular Main Street fixture, Pho Hoang Vietnamese Restaurant. “For more than 30 years, my parents ran their restaurant … the last 18 years was in this location,” says Amelie. “It was really hard for my mother (Ly Nguyen) to run the restaurant after dad died.” At the time, Vincent was attending medical school in Australia. He came back home to Vancouver, and joined Amelie (who previously worked in health care) to take over the day-to-day operations at their family-owned eatery.
However, Amelie and Vincent felt that Pho Hoang didn't feel quite the same without their father at the helm. After much deliberation, they decided to close the restaurant and reopen it under a new name and vision. In the spring of 2016, the siblings launched Anh and Chi (meaning brother and sister in Vietnamese), a chic, contemporary Vietnamese restaurant with a revamped menu.
Love this place! They recently did a wonderful renovation work and the place looks great. The food is amazing and I highly recommend the lemon grass chicken VERY tasty. A bit busy at times but worth the wait.
