Notice the other reviews are older, dating back to 2009. Rebar has, unfortunately, gone downhill. Went for lunch on a weekday with a party of five and waited an hour to be served. That's too long, even during a busy period. And portions have become really small too. I was still hungry. Fellow diners had the Huevos Rancheros and weren't impressed. I sampled it and agreed. It just a shame. Rebar - ruined by their own success.
You've heard of the cookbook, know try the restaurant where it all started. ReBar (located in Bastion Square) is a must for any vegetarian. Be sure to grab a copy of the cookbook when you are there. The recipes are simple, healthy & delicious.
I have been lunching at the Rebar on a more or less regular basis for many years. The menu is mainly vegetarian with vegan choices. Occasionally a fish swims cautiously into a corner of the menu. I have found the quality and consistency of the food to be excellent. The service is generally very good with occasional hiccups, mainly in the form of slow service. Rebar is a popular place and sometimes you have to line up at the door to get in, especially if you show up for lunch after 12 pm! If you really like the food they will be happy to sell you one of their cookbooks.
