We all have friends who have the most extraordinary stories about how they met their spouse. Maybe you even have an amazing tale yourself. But how many people do you know who can say they met their beloved while scaling an artificial rock face?
Well, it’s happened at The Rock Oasis more than once. “People meet here then I won’t see them for a few years then they’ll come back and they’ll have kids with them,” says owner Karen McGilvray.
These romantic tales go to show that rock-climbing isn’t only a great activity for endurance and strength training, but is an extremely social activity, too. “You get to know people well. People form friendships,” says Karen of the social bond created while scaling artificial rocks. This bonding experience is part of what makes the facility so popular for corporate team building exercises and youth groups.
