What do you get when you combine Vancouver’s hottest celebrity chefs with the city’s tastiest food trucks? The inaugural Chef Meets Truck food festival, taking place in Yaletown on September 13. For one night only, celebrity chefs will hop aboard eight mobile eateries to serve up some seriously appetizing eats. Check out the vendors and guest chefs participating in this collaborative event.

Mom's Grilled Cheese Truck

1
701 Robson St, Vancouver BC

No offence Mom, but your homemade grilled cheese sandwiches ain’t got nothing on this food truck’s oh-so-gooey gourmet creations. The mobile sandwich counter will be vacating its permanent West Georgia parking spot to make an appearance in Yaletown at the first-ever Chef Meets Truck festival. And Yaletown’s own Travis McCord – the culinary mastermind behind the rustic Italian menu at La Pentola – will be slinging the home-style sandwiches. Whether you’re a purist who prefers classic cheddar on white bread or you’re a foodie who fancies adventurous toppings, there’s sure to be a sandwich to suit your taste buds.

Roaming Dragon

1441 Clark Dr, Vancouver BC V5L 3K9

“Authentically unauthentic pan-Asian deliciousness” is the carte-du-jour at Roaming Dragon. Anyone familiar with the night markets of Southeast Asia will swoon over this food truck’s street eats; the menu includes fried rice balls, Chinese pork sliders, short ribs, Korean tacos and many more bite-sized snacks packed with international flavours. Scott Jaeger, award-winning chef and owner of The Pear Tree in Burnaby, will be playing guest chef for the evening.

Le Tigre

Vancouver BC V6B 3P7

Vancouver chef Erik Heck might be known for his mini restaurant empire The Flying Pig, but he’ll be channelling his inner tiger when he takes over the kitchen at Le Tigre on September 13. Chef Erik will swap West Coast comfort foods for modern Chinese cuisine and try his hand at serving some of the food truck’s infamous specialties, which include fried chicken, kick-ass rice, and the veggie-friendly Crack Salad – a spicy, tangy mix of Brussels sprouts, cauliflower, chillies, lemon juice, parmesan and capers.

Via Tevere Neapolitan Express (Food Truck)

3
1190 Victoria Dr, Vancouver BC V5L 4G5

When the chef behind the most buzz-worthy restaurant opening of 2016 steps inside one of the city’s top food trucks, you just know the result is gonna be good. Phil Scarfone of Nightingale (the latest venture from David Hawksworth) will be manning the brick oven inside Via Tevere Express for one night only on September 13. Unlike the brick-and-mortar Via Tevere pizzeria on Victoria Drive, this food truck specializes in wood-fired paninis stuffed with Italian meats, melted cheese and fresh veggies all served on a blistered, crunchy bun reminiscent of fresh-baked pizza dough.
