First impressions of this restaurant are a little off putting. You need to go down an alley then downstairs into this dingy, dark, cramped room. I am sure they are trying to create a certain atmosphere with all the 'stuff' they have hanging from everywhere including old street signs, pictures covering every available space, the ceiling painted black and a variety of different 'things' hanging from the rafters but all they really created in my opinion was a very claustrophobic atmosphere. In fact one person in the party had to leave early because he couldn’t even stand it. And he is not claustrophobic in normal cases. The service was ok but just average. When the food got there, the garlic bread was pretty good but nothing amazing. It was just garlic bread. The pasta was severely overcooked and sauce was very bland. My drink tasted off. I couldn’t even drink it. I felt like a pig eating out of such a gigantic and deep bowl. I couldn’t eat much of it. The place just felt kind of dirty. It was the kind of place where the tables are clean but that’s about it. To be honest I can’t really understand why a line up of about 4 different parties were waiting for tables when we were leaving, lined up out the door. I wouldn’t go back.
This place is great for students like myself that want to get out with a few friends and get our money's worth. I always see students in there, and it's our hidden gem. I agree with the comment about first dates; it's an excellent place to go out with someone for a first time. The decorating provides much conversation, and the warm and friendly atmosphere is excellent. Everything arrived promptly and it never felt as though my friends and I were waiting. The nachoes were a large individual portion, and the cheese on them was nice. The chicken caesar is also quite nice - I've had that in the past. It's not gourmet, but it doesn't claim to be and it's good enough for a group of students.
The food was all very good, the nachos being the best. The atmosphere is very warm and inviting. Interesting location (Artisan's Alley) and never overly busy.
Very disappointing. The sauces were very bland and watery, the noodles undercooked, the chicken was boiled - VERY bland, and my coke tasted a bit off - almost like they never washed it from the last drink. The seats are very small and cramped, dark atmosphere, and very difficult to get in an out of. Waited longer for my bill than I did for my meal. A better meal I could have made at home, and been more comfortable, and not spent $20.
