My husband and I have been here twice now, this time for dinner. This place has great sandwiches for lunch! The scallopini was quite tasty with the Marsala sauce. Spaghetti and meat balls were very nice to the sauce is delicious! I don't know why some people are giving bad reviews, they must have similar palates to cows. This place is a must try for anyone who loves Italian home cooking!
We were extremely disappointed in the lack of selection on the menu, the food, the service and the atmosphere. We will not be returning to this place again.
Friends and I arrived for a casual dinner and was greated by wonderful aromas and a pleasent atmosphere.You know the food is good when you can smell it in the air!! A real Italian restaurant, it is about time that someone practices what they preach. Authentic ingredients, nothing pre made or from frozen,( like some places who charge an arm and a leg for ready made food). The portions are huge and you can make a meal out of the left overs for a couple of days. It is what it is. Nothing pretentious or snobby, perfect for a rainy day. Sure glad we found you.
I was really excited to go to this restaurant but very disappointed when I left. My food was luke warm and my server was not accurate at taking orders. The music volume kept changing and was set to high to even talk at a normal level. I would not feel comfortable going to this place again.
I have been pining for a good Italian restaurant in my neck of the Oakville woods and it's here. The first sign of a good Italian restaurant is the smell of a simmering sauce when you enter the premises...check! The next sign is decent bread with good quality olive oil and balsamic vinegar for dipping...check!
They had me at the bread but I'll go on! My pasta was delicious...cooked perfectly and the sauce was suberb. The portion was so generous that I had leftovers for lunch the next day. My husband, not an Italian food fan, (much to my dismay and yet I still agreed to marry him), is harder to please. He thoroughly enjoyed his osso buco. The herbed sauce was so rich and very flavourful that I kept dipping into it from across the table.
Dessert was wonderful. The chocolate mousse was rich and light. The bread pudding was served warm and it is to die for. It defines comfort food and topped off with a full bodied cup of coffee it was a perfect ending to a perfect meal.
While the restaurant is nicely decorated, it isn't over the top. A kind of Italian Abba-esque music played in the background and it added to the ambience. Table cloths and candle light on the tables would have been a nice
touch given the tab for the meal, a small criticism, hardly worth mentioning.
I look forward to the many meals I will share with friends and family at the aptly named Ritorno.
